Now more than ever, AAUW needs strength in numbers. With approximately 170,000 members and supporters, 1,000 branches, and almost 800 college and university partner members, AAUW uses its powerful voice on critical issues affecting women and girls.
Join in the commitment to speak out on STEM education, funding for public education, global issues such as human trafficking, salary negotiation, advocacy for Title IX, and civil rights.

Membership in AAUW State College includes membership in national AAUW and AAUW Pennsylvania.
From the national organization, members become members of the Action Network where briefs alert members to congressional actions and provide an opportunity for input.
Members receive The Keystoner, a quarterly newsletter from AAUW Pennsylvania that details issues and branch activities around the state.
Membership in AAUW State College includes regular communication through twice-month Branch Bulletins as well as opportunities to volunteer at AAUW State College-sponsored STEM activities and participate in programs that reflect the AAUW mission in our local community.
STEM Committee
Volunteer to be a part of VOICES, a conference held annually (typically in February) at Penn State, in partnership with AAUW State College. Members of GWIS (Graduate Women in Science) host a day of networking, keynote speakers, and relevant sessions for women. While the conference is attended primarily by graduate students and young professionals, high school students also are invited to attend. Your volunteer commitment can be either for a partial or a whole day. 2-8 hours
Volunteer at the State College Area School District CSI programs for middle-school girls after school in February. SCI is held at the SCSD high school. Your volunteer commitment can be for one or all sessions. 2-8 hours total
Volunteer to be a helping hand in Discovery Space’s summer camps, especially the weeks that are themed for females. Your volunteer commitment can be for one activity for one day or for one week. 2-25 hours total
Diversity Committee
Volunteer to plan and host (as part of a small committee) an international potluck or a potluck on a specific current event/hot, new topic. Your volunteer commitment: Planning 2.5 hours, Setup/Hosting/Cleanup 3.5 hours.
Communications & Membership Committees
Work with one or two seasoned AAUW members to host a new kind of networking/mingling event for the branch members. Your volunteer commitment varies: Planning 2.5 hours, Setup/Hosting/Cleanup 3.5 hours
Social Media
Agree to post something relevant to women (this day in history, current events, research) each Wednesday on Facebook. Commitment: 15-60 minutes per month
Share AAUW’s public events with specific groups that you are connected to – such as Rotary, Kiwanis, book club, gym, and other community groups. Your volunteer commitment: 15 minutes per event.
Book Workshop/Sale
Volunteer at our Used Book Workshop in Boalsburg (176 Technology Drive) during workshop hours, June – March. Your volunteer commitment is flexible, as are the hours.
Volunteer for our next annual Used Book Sale as a greeter, stocker, or cashier. Help also is needed with publicity leading up to the sale. Your volunteer commitment: Flexible shifts available
