Book Sale Updates & Information
Help Us Find a New Workshop Home
We recently learned that the lease for our AAUW State College Used Book Workshop – where book donations are processed and stored for our annual Used Book Sale – expires this June. The search for a new workshop home is underway! We need a space totaling about 3,800 square feet that is situated on a level concrete slab with no stairs. Other requirements include a loading dock, air conditioning, and access to a bathroom and a dumpster. Please send suggestions for available spaces to info@aauwstatecollege.org.
Book Sale Donations
The donation period for the 2021 AAUW State College Used Book Sale has ended. The book sale is tentatively scheduled for May 15-18, 2021.
Advocating for Education, Leadership & Equity for Women & Girls
AAUW’s Nationwide women’s advocacy network opens doors for women and girls and influences public debate on critical social issues such as education, civil rights, and workplace equity.
AAUW publishes groundbreaking research on women and girls, is one of the world’s largest resources of funding exclusively for graduate women, and fights sex discrimination in all levels of education.
The State College branch of AAUW was founded in 1916 and has approximately 150 members who continually seek ways to work toward improving the lives of all women. Our State College branch has a long history of leadership and community service.
Equity

A gap exists at all levels of work in almost every occupation. There is a gender pay gap in every state. It cuts across all age groups and demographics, significantly for women of color. The gap greets a woman as soon as she gets out of college and grows wider …
Leadership

Women still lag far behind men when it comes to leadership roles. They remain significantly under-represented at the highest rungs of almost every field: corporate, government, nonprofit, education, law, medicine, finance and banking, and the military.
Education

From preschool through high school, most children encounter some degree of “gender tracking,” stereotypes, and expectations that can set them on a lifelong path. Tracking in early education helps account for why so many professional women are still making less.
STEM
SCHOLARSHIPS
GRANTS
For nearly sixty years, we have organized one of the largest used book sales in the country. Income from the sale funds grants that support projects of Centre County non-profits that align with AAUW’s mission and scholarships awarded as well as women undergraduates residing in Centre County. Sale proceeds also support national AAUW initiatives, STEM programs in Centre County, and our branch operations. AAUW State College has been a powerful force for advancing gender equity for women and girls in our community through advocacy, education, and research for over one hundred years.
