Donation Guidelines
We accept donations in the following categories. Hover over dotted items for examples.

We Cannot Accept
- Items that are dirty, moldy, smelly, burnt, chewed, or wet
- Textbooks published more than five years ago (unless classic reference books)
- Encyclopedias
- Dictionaries
- Vinyl phonograph records, audio and video tapes
- Magazines, including National Geographic
- Travel guides more than five years old
- Catalogs
- Readers Digest Condensed Books
- VHS tapes
- Library books, or materials discarded from libraries
What to do with books we cannot accept: Centre County Recycling advises that soft cover books can be recycled as-is (bundled for curbside pickup). Hard cover books can be recycled after removing the front and back covers. If you don’t have curbside service, place books in a drop-off bin labeled “mixed paper.”

Book Donation Location

- The AAUW Book Workshop is located at 2197 High Tech Road, 0.3 miles from University Park Airport.
- From High Tech Road, go to the end of the chain link fencing on the left, then turn right. Watch for the AAUW donation sign.
- Park next to the blue donation bins by the rear blue building door.
- Books can be placed in outdoor bins anytime the workshop is not staffed.
Book Workshop Hours
The Book Workshop is now open for the 2027 sale!
Donation bins are available 24/7 outside the workshop.
Need help? Volunteers are on hand:
- Mondays: 5:30–7:30 PM
- Tuesdays & Wednesdays: 9:00 AM–noon (until Labor Day); 9:00 AM–2:30 PM (after Labor Day)
